Porch Ceiling
1900s porch renovation
This ceiling is influenced by Greene and Greene and merged with an 1800s Adirondack lodge esthetic. The installation was in a 4 season sun room, the primary entry into the house.
Natural Pine was chosen to stay consistent with the wood flooring replacing a decrepit and neglected painted ceiling. Multiple layers of paint were removed from the porch floor to expose the vintage quartersawn heart pine flooring; which is now a rare wood. The light hanging on wires from a hole in the ceiling was upgraded to a ceiling fan.
The porch is now a dramatic first impression when visitors enter the house and can be enjoyed all year long. Surrounded by windows and the warmth of the natural wood becomes the focal point of the room.
